Chintpurni, also known as Mata Shri
Chhinnamastika Devi, is about 40 kms from Hoshiarpur.
It is said that this pilgrimage site was established
over twenty-six generations ago. Devotees have
been visiting this Shaktipeeth for centuries
to pray at the lotus feet of Mata Shri Chhinnamastika
Apart from the holy shrine, the place is full
of picturesque surroundings. Some very nice
places for sight seeing, indoor and out door
activities are situated in and around Chintpurni.
Mandir is about 35 kms northeast
of Chintpurni. The temple is built over natural
jets of combustible gas, believed to be the
manifestation of the Goddess Jwalamukhi, the
deity of the flaming mouth. It is of
significance to tantriks.
